The afternoon 500m grade shoot was preceded by a morning participation in the Armidale 600m 20-shot, postal competition, with proceeds supporting the U/25’s teams. Fabian, James, Nick and Lucas all took part. The morning saw mostly cloud with a more forgiving N/E sea breeze over the left shoulder, which was stiffening on the approach to noon. Solid scores were posted by Fabian Sutryk and James Hoffman, landing them both 3rd place (across the state) in their respective categories F-Open and TRB. Meanwhile ominous cumulus anvils were looming out to the West by the early afternoon, with the increasing N/E sea-breeze stiffening up to a very blustery 25km/h+, seemingly feeding the incoming storm front.

The grade shoot nonethless went ahead with the blustery conditions buffeting shooters badly; tough conditions for all. The Sydney basin was ultimately spared from the storm cells (which slid south) and Sydney Rifle Club overall put up a solid showing across categories TR, F and SH, which has now boosted them to the middle of pack, in grade aggregation for TR and SH.
