Every Saturday Sydney Rifle Club shoots at a different distance (per the overarching MDRA range program), which varies from 300m to 800m, in 100m increments.
Shooters take it in turns to shoot two “stages”; where a stage is a maximum of 12 shots ,with 10 continous shots to count. For each stage the first two sighting shots (aka sighters) can optionally be kept or discarded, at the discretion of the shooter.
Scores are usually recorded by a clubmate, which count toward the annual aggregate club championship. It’s also good to practice the way an official prize meeting occurs, as a form of preperation.
Sometimes there are events scheduled which may interrupt regular practice, see the MDRA program for more information around shedule.
If there is range time left after everyone has finished their weekly practice, members who want to do some informal shooting can do so!
