Sydney Rifle Club shoots the highly competitive F Class Open (FO). An FO rifle has the most stable front and rear platforms, and may be of any calibre up to and including 8mm. The overall weight must not exceed 10kg including all attachments, but excluding any “pedestal” style front rest or rear sandbag. The weight of a trigger pull is unregulated, but must be safe and conform to SSR requirements.
Caliber choice plays a significant role in the FO arena, so think carefully before procuring equipment and consumables! There is no restriction on bullet weight; the general recommendation is to pursue the highest ballistic-coefficient projectile possible… but also that your hip pocket can support! Running niche ammunition is costly!
F class has a strong following particularly in the US with key influencers like Eric Cortina and John Masek (aka F-class John). Search the web to discover a lot of content from these two alone.
